Here's a useful tool, a program called "WAV4MP3"
which basically rewrites the mp3 file to a "mp3wav" which is a sort of
a hybrid of both in the fact that it has all the compression values of
a mp3, but can be used within a WAV editor, like SOUND FORGE, GOLDWAVE,
or COOL EDIT. the only drawback, is that you NEED the fraunhofer codec
installed within your computer for mp3wavs to work...NO PROBLEM!!! here's the
L3CODEC
to Download !!! If you DO have the codec installed, please go get
WAV4MP3 NOW!!!
Converting from mp3 to wav is just as easy with a little program called MP32WAV A older program, it's does a excellent job of converting to large sized wav files for use with CD burning software. The main drawback is that it will not do mp2 files and mp3's with variable bit rates (like winamp), but is a lot easier to use then winamp in configuring for conversion. Give it a try if you have a bunch of fixed rate mp3's to convert over.

AUDIO LIBRARY I should have added this awhile back...but it's so off the beaten track, I frankly forgot. Audio Library is sort of a All-In-One music jukebox using their own format of compression Lucent Technologies/Bell Labs (PAC) perceptual audio coding...related to the mpeg standards. the files will not play on a mp3 player like winamp or winplay, so me thinks, plus the ridiculously high price of $155 US for the program, is gonna keep it out of the average internet surfer, but hey, you can download the demo to give it a try anyway, and this page is aiming to be thorough in audio formats on the net, thus I cannot leave this one out!
